What is PPC advertising?
Pay Per Click (PPC) also known as Cost Per Click (CPC) advertising is one of the most effective ways to market your business online. Our services include adding your listing on Google Adwords. This should give you all the exposure you need!
PPC advertising gets your site listed right in front of people who are actively searching for whatever you have to offer. That is what makes it so effective. Your ads get placed in the search engines under search terms that you choose. You bid on the placement of your ads and you only pay the bid price when a visitor clicks on your ad and visits your site. The higher you bid, the higher your ad gets placed in the search results for the search term you want to be listed for. Kind of like an auction for a search term, the highest bidder wins! Highly searched for phrases will cost more and the less often searched for phrases will cost less. It balances out because some phases will make you more money and some you can simply drop.
There are 2 major PPC search engines we recommend: Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing (was known as Overture.com). By adding campaigns on these 2 services your ads will show on AOL, MSN, Google, Yahoo and many other secondary locations. Highly searched for phrases will cost more and the less often searched for phrases will cost less. It's important to keep a close eye on the keywords you are bidding on and start with as many keywords you can think of for your product. By maintaining your keywords and the correct balance to your ad, your Click Through Ratio (CTR) will improve and hopefully so will your Return on Investment (ROI).
What is ROI?
ROI stands for Return on Investment. This is an extremely important aspect when setting up your campaigns, no matter how you are deciding to market your business! You need to setup budgets and track all your stats to make sure you are not losing money. The point of marketing is to make a profit, so make sure your return is higher than what you are spending. To do this, you do your best to track sales! Depending on your business, this is either an easy task or difficult to track.
Qualifying Ads
The next thing you want to do is write qualifying ad text that will show when your keyword is searched. This is one of the most important steps; if an ad is not well written you can lose a lot of qualifying sales for your product. Meaning a person will click the ad, view your site for about 20 seconds, close the window and search somewhere else just because it was not even close to what they were looking for. Meanwhile you still had to pay for the click. So imagine this happening 100 times a day at 7 cents a click that's $7.00 a day and $210 a month. Although there are more variables then this, your ad needs to prequalify the visitor before they click on your ad!
Ad Management
The next step is how to manage your ads. You will want to set a daily/monthly budget and try to bid enough on each keyword. If you bid too low your ad won't be seen, and if you bid too high your deposit account will run out before the end of the month. Overture and some other PPC services have a required spending about each month, so you will want to be sure you are spending enough to meet that requirement or your account may be paused or closed. It will take you some time to figure out how each PPC service works, but master it, and you can make some money on the internet!
These are just the very basic steps to consider when starting your ad campaigns. If you have any questions or would like to receive a free estimate please feel free to contact us.
